The Dome’s towers will be the new headquarters for Media and Telecomunications in Abu Dhabi. The typological and formal principles are defined by the functional organization of the new HQ, where generous spaces for study, control areas and areas for special equipment and plans, that require to be developed horizontally. The executive office and administrative part instead needs to be developed vertically to reduce land occupation. Given these operating requirements, our proposal is based on the study of typical of the main architecture of Arab culture, with its imposing facade, many alcoves and two tall towers. The two towers rise from the podium and they are placed at the edge of it, recalling the way the traditional wind towers were placed. As the traditional wind towers they are therefore tapered and perforated at the top. They are oriented in such a way that they visual cones do not interfere, in order to facilitate the broadcasting from the studios on top of them: the highest tower is dug and its concavity is directed towards the city center and the Corniche, while the lower tower turns its concavity to Reem Island and Saadiyat.
