Restoration And Consolidation Of Centi Palace
Centi Palace is one of the highest expressions of Baroque style in L’Aquila and nowadays is the headquarter of Region Abruzzo. Today it is unusable following the damage caused by the earthquake of 2009. The planning proposal for recovery of the palace involves a professional team of specialists in restoration and structural reinforcements, aimed to find a balance among the various issues involved in the utmost respect of the eighteenth-century manufacture taking in high consideration both the structural safety and energy efficiency needs. Our methodological approach is based on the critical historical study of ancient building and on the articles of Venice Charter which says the restoration must be distinguishable from the original, avoiding mimicry. The anti-seismic building safety is a priority for the institutional and strategic role of the building. The new project improved the architectural features by conferring a greater use of space with easy ways, thought for an enlarged audience.
